Rachel Staples Guettler is a performer, musician, singer, public speaker, vocal coach, public speaking coach, music teacher, presentation crafting coach, and vocal healer. Through Rachel's extensive research and development of a unique vocal performance, vocal power, and vocal confidence curriculum, Rachel is able to turn any individual into a powerful presenter, a more confident public speaker, and a captivating vocal performer. Rachel was born in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina, and she moved to the Los Angeles area in 2005. Rachel's unique vocal style has mesmerized audiences from coast to coast through the distinct use of her classically trained voice, extensive research vocal technique, and diverse teaching experience. Rachel also plays a variety of instruments such as the piano, the guitar, the didgeridoo, the harmonium, and the ocarina. Rachel holds a Masters degree of Music in Vocal Performance from California State University at Northridge. She achieved a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Bachelor of Science in International Affairs from Florida State University.
Rachel has worked extensively with Dr. Bernice Ledbetter and the Pepperdine University Center for Women in Leadership as teacher and student consultant, guest lecturer, and public speaking coach. Rachel has been working in professional higher education administration as a Recruitment Manger for the Fully Employed Program of the Pepperdine University Graziadio School of Business and Management since 2014. Rachel is the owner of OperaTune Vocal Studio, serving the Greater Los Angeles and Ventura County areas as well as offering coaching sessions online worldwide since 2005. Rachel has been an active Community Educator for the Los Angeles Opera since 2012. Rachel occasionally performs as an opera singer for the Lucent Dossier Experience. Some of Rachel's previously employment includes being the Assistant Director of Admissions and Career Services in administration at AMDA College and Conservatory of the Performing Arts with campuses located in Los Angeles and New York City, a Sales and Marketing Executive for GMT Studios in Culver City, a seasonal producer and head stage manager for The Do Lab, and the Assistant to the General Managers (Robert and Margaret Galbraith) of the Opera Company of North Carolina. Rachel is passionate about the performing arts and creating powerful presentations for a multitude of business settings and industries.
Rachel has musically performed in a wide variety of settings from the classical stage to musical theatre, film soundtracks, and music venues around the world. Rachel first graced the operatic stage in Puccini's Madame Butterfly and Bizet's Carmen with the North Carolina Opera Company in 2000 & 2001. She performed with Florida State University Opera in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte in 2002 and Vacci's I Capuleti e i Montecchi in 2003. Rachel opened the 2009 Downtown Los Angeles Fashion Week Runway Show with an operatic performance on the runway. Rachel received studio credit through Yoav Goren's Immediatse Music project called Globus, which has tracks on a few different feature films. Rachel opened the 2012 Event Solution Spotlight Awards at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, NV singing an original operatic composition, which was performed to the electronic music of DJ Imagika Om. She performed with the Los Angeles Opera Education & Community Programs in 2011 & 2012. Rachel performed the role of Rosalinda in the production of Die Fledermaus for California State University Northridge Opera in Fall 2013.
Rachel teaches public speaking and coaches on how to build a powerful presentation for a multitude of business settings and industries. Rachel also teaches all levels of students in all singing styles of vocal performance including classical, musical theatre, contemporary, rock, and country. Rachel has a very unique approach to vocal coaching and music that intertwines classical technique with a fun, modern-day approach, encompassing physical movement and empowering affirmations to assist with mind/body/instrument awareness. Rachel is a consultant for growing, strengthening, and advancing presentation skills. Rachel is an advocate for performing arts industry. Rachel is always on the hunt for more OPERAtunities.
